Why you really should drink Coffee

Coffee is a ubiquitous beverage enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Its energizing effects have long been attributed to its high caffeine content, which acts as a stimulant on the central nervous system.

As a student, I often rely on coffee to help me stay somewhat focused during long study sessions. It’s like having a moment you don’t want to end, only for the cup to run empty. “Pop!” Amina exclaimed with a smile during a recent conversation we had. I happened to bump into her at Eko Bistro in Wuse. She used to be an old friend of mine back in Lagos before she left for Armenia.

In addition to coffee’s ability to enhance cognitive performance, recent research suggests that coffee can also have a positive impact on creativity.

Coffee. Coffee. Coffee!

One way in which coffee can influence creativity is by improving brain function. Studies have shown that caffeine in coffee increases alertness and attention, allowing individuals to concentrate better on tasks at hand. This enhanced focus can lead to improved cognitive abilities, including problem-solving and idea generation.

Furthermore, coffee has been found to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine, which play a crucial role in regulating mood and cognition. By boosting these neurotransmitters, coffee can enhance brain function and potentially augment creative thinking abilities.

So, making that masterpiece is easy anyway.

Moreover, coffee’s impact on creativity may also be attributed to its ability to reduce fatigue and increase mental endurance. Long study sessions or demanding work can sometimes leave you feeling mentally drained and fatigued. In such cases, a cup of coffee can provide a much-needed energy boost, helping you push through mental barriers and maintain focus for extended periods.

However, it is important to note that while coffee can have positive effects on cognitive function and creativity, moderation is key. Excessive consumption of caffeine can lead to negative side effects such as anxiety, restlessness, and disrupted sleep patterns, which can ultimately have a detrimental impact on performance.

Coffee, with its caffeine content and its subsequent impact on brain function, has the potential to positively influence creativity. By improving focus, reducing fatigue, and stimulating neurotransmitters, coffee can enhance cognitive performance and aid in generating innovative ideas.

Before you know it, you’ll be producing a masterpiece.

I passed a paper to her, and she smiled and wrote something in response. All she wrote was “You are so different.” I smiled back but remained silent. The Italo fish pepper soup in front of me was overwhelming, causing my head to spin. I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Next time I come here, I’ll definitely bring some Tigray coffee.”
