Tigray Coffee Co. is MTPak Circular Economy Grant Finalist

The Tigray Coffee™ team is very happy to be a finalist for the 2023 $15,000 Circular Economy Grant organised by MTPak. You can find the full list of finalists HERE. MTPak is a coffee industry company founded in 2016 by Mark Zhou with an international client portfolio. The company’s ethos is centred on carbon neutrality, circular economy, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What is The Circular Economy Grant?

The Circular Economy Grant is a scheme we launched in 2023 to reward one coffee roaster or coffee shop with $5,000 for their sustainability efforts, or $15,000 in credit to spend on our line of sustainable coffee bags, boxes, and takeaway cups.

Promoting a circular economy is at the heart of MTPak Coffee. It is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.

Tigray Coffee Co’s Kwararafa Light Roast Coffee Pack

Our coffee pack from the Kwararafa Light Roast is designed with an earthy brown dominant colour in a template inspired by pan-African colours and imagery. At the centre of it is the Ethiopian lion, long thought of as extinct, until a small, resurgent pride was discovered in 2016.

Waterways all across Nigeria are full of single-use plastics that clog up the channels and make cities prone to flooding. Tigray Coffee has tried to address this by designing our packs to be multi-use and biodegradable.
